April 4, 2019: Implication of Espinoza on Virtual Currency Businesses & Tax Issues
Daniel Stabile and Kimberly Prior from Shutts & Bowen hosted a very special meetup in the firm's beautiful downtown Orlando office where they, as legal experts very familiar with the topic, provided an overview of the significance of the Espinoza Third District Court of Appeals (Florida) decision and related issues, as well as a discussion on tax implications related to virtual currencies.

March 11, 2019: Making Blockchain Sexy: Telling a story for awareness, adoption & investment
Conversations about blockchain can easily be bogged down by technical jargon, which can quickly lose the interest of potential customers, users, and investors. Just as internet users find utility in the technology without knowing the details, blockchain should be no different. Blockchain has the potential to radically change the world and if we wish to see this future, we must give it a better story.
Presenters: Founded in 2017 by Colton O’Dwyer and Heath Hawkins, Proxley is a creative agency with one simple mission in mind: help crypto and blockchain companies tell the best version of their story. Since then, Proxley has worked with several currencies, companies, and conferences to create content aimed at increasing adoption, awareness, and education. Proxley believes that for blockchain to have the best chance of success, it must be one thing—sexy.
February 12, 2019: Dapps featuring DigiTix - Event Tickets on the Blockchain
At this meetup, Brandon West covered information and then dove into smart contracts and dapps. He feature the dapp DigiTix.io as an example of how they can be developed and used to solve real problems.

“Self-taught blockchain developer who graduated of UF with a degree in Finance and Entrepreneurship. He began his career in Finance at Walt Disney World where he taught himself how to program which led to the development of many applications automating various business area tasks. He then went on to serve in an IT role at Royal Caribbean. He became an integral part of the project development and deployment of the new “Smart Ship” initiatives. These projects included working internationally to build the largest and smartest ships in the world that sail the seas today. By building Finance and Technology skill sets, he has won multiple hackathons/startup events and naturally transitioned into crypto. He is now a full-time blockchain developer, consultant, and miner. January 16, 2018: Securities Demystified: How to Raise Capital for Your Company
Attorney Anessa Allen Santos presented a practical overview on how to successfully prepare your offering. Attendees learned the difference between the most common securities regulations including regulations 4(a)(2), A/A+, CF & D, and how to know which one is best for your business. They also received specific instruction regarding specific SEC requirements, disclosures, financial statements and more.
Presenter: Anessa Allen Santos, Attorney at IntelliLaw, has practiced law for more than 15 years, providing legal and business consulting services to startup and technology companies on diverse matters such as blockchain and digital currencies, corporate law, governance and compliance, intellectual property and securities. Anessa presently serves on the Technology Law Committee and the Digital Currency Task Force of the Florida Bar Association. She has developed and taught courses in contract drafting as an adjunct professor at Florida A&M College of Law and serves as a mentor to technology startup incubator, Starter Studio. Anessa is a frequent guest lecturer, keynote speaker and author of related materials on matters pertaining to law and technology. Fluent in Spanish, she has been featured on programs televised on Univision and Telemundo, various radio shows throughout Florida, and has made public appearances throughout Latin America to speak on cross-border business development. Recently voted one of Orlando’s Top 20 Lawyers, Anessa has received a certificate in blockchain strategies from the University of Oxford, a Juris Doctorate from the University of Dayton, and a Bachelor’s in Diplomacy and Human Rights from Wright State University.Lawrence Harte presented on how Blockchain apps can provide business advantages and it is possible to create a Blockchain app without having programming knowledge. There are several new Blockchain app development tools that enable non-programmers to define business requirements which are used to create distributed ledger apps (DApps). In this session, we will work together as a group to create a Blockchain app. While these non-programming Blockchain app development services tend to be limited to basic capabilities (for now), learning how to develop apps without programming can help you to understand how Blockchain works and ways to define what you want them to do for your business or type of job.
Dec. 10, 2018: An overview of Distributed Ledger Technologies
Chuck Bair lead a discussion the digital ledger technologies that support cryptocurrencies, smart contracts, and specialized distributed applications. The focus was on the capabilities that these technologies enable and potential business applications.
Presenter: Chuck Bair is Partner at the Lapine Group, a small management consulting firm serving middle-market to Fortune 500 level clients. His primary focus is on consumer-facing technologies including CMS solutions, web applications, and CRM systems.
